Personal Website Space for Conxxus Subscribers:
All Conxxus subscribers are allowed 5 mb of storage space for a personal webpage. Following you will find instructions on how to create a personal webpage. Customers who use Web TV to connect to the Internet should contact Web TV at (800) go-webtv.Step 1 - Design your page:
The first step is to design your webpage. There are a variety of different software programs that you can use to develop your page. A few basic programs are Microsoft's Front Page, Netscape Composer, plus more. In order for your first page to load, it MUST be named index.html or index.htm. Step 2 - Upload Your Pages to Conxxus's Server
- You will first need to load an FTP program on your computer. This is the program that you will use to transfer your files from your hard drive to Conxxus's server. We recommend WS_FTP, or CuteFTP. Many design software programs like Front Page have a built in FTP (publish) feature. You must first be dialed into Conxxus before you can FTP. First, you'll want to create a site within your FTP program and save it so you do not have to repeat the same steps in the future. Assuming you are using CuteFTP, create the site by clicking on Add New Site. For the Site Label, name your site a familar name then for the Host Site enter home.illicom.net , Enter your User ID and password (the same as your dial-in username and password). All other boxes should be left blank.
After completing the steps above, choose Okay to save the new site. That's it! Click once on the site that you named and click connect. (If you saved your site you will not have to repeat these steps in the future).
Once logged in, the server will default you to your "home" directory. You will need to change to the WEB directory. You do this by double clicking on the WEB folder. (If you do not place your files in the WEB directory, then your website will not be viewable. You will see this directory on the right hand side of your screen (assuming you are using CuteFTP). You will then need to change to the directory on your hard drive that has your html and graphic files. (This is done by changing directories on the left hand side of your screen - again assuming you are using CuteFTP).
Once you are in the proper directories, highlight the files you want to send to the server and drag them over to the right side. This will transfer the files from your hard drive to our Web server. Once you have the files transferred you may view them with your WWW browser (usually Internet Explorer or Netscape). The address will be:
http://home.illicom.net/~username
Reminder - Index Page Information. In order for your cover page to load using the address above, it MUST be named index.html or index.htm. If that file is not named correctly, you can use the rename function of CuteFTP to change it on the server.
- Please keep in mind that files and references are case sensitive. If you have any typos or wrong case, your files, links and pictures may not work.
